Jinko ESS Deploys First 5MWh Utility-Scale Energy Storage System in Western Australia

Advanced liquid-cooled battery system entry signifies deepening of Jinko ESS footprint in Australia’s renewable energy and mining sectors
Jinko ESS, a global energy storage specialist and subsidiary of Jinko Solar Co., Ltd., has successfully deployed its first SunTera five-megawatt-hour liquid-cooled energy storage system in Western Australia, marking a significant expansion of its presence in Australia’s utility-scale energy storage market.

The system, engineered for large-scale applications, has been designed to operate reliably in demanding environments and support the integration of renewable power generation into Australia’s grid and industrial operations.

With advanced liquid-cooling technology ensuring stable performance across a wide range of temperatures and robust multi-level safety protections from cell to system, the SunTera platform aims to deliver long-term performance with a round-trip efficiency exceeding ninety-four percent.

The deployment underscores Jinko ESS’s strategy of tailoring solutions to local conditions and strengthens its role in enhancing grid resilience and renewable energy utilisation across the region.

The launch follows earlier agreements to supply the company’s five-megawatt-hour systems to strategic partners, including a planned installation at the Binduli Gold Operations Centre operated by Norton Gold Fields Pty Ltd, where the technology will integrate with existing renewable infrastructure and is slated to be commissioned in the coming year.

This project highlights the growing demand in Australia’s resource and energy sectors for reliable, scalable storage solutions that can smooth power fluctuations, support remote operations and mitigate the intermittency of renewable generation.

Jinko ESS executives have emphasised their commitment to providing advanced, utility-grade energy storage tailored to Australia’s climatic and operational needs and have pointed to the installation as a milestone in the firm’s ongoing expansion across the Asia-Pacific region.
