Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, The Princess Royal, concluded a four-day tour of Australia on 11 November 2025 with a dynamic day of military engagements at Brisbane’s Gallipoli Barracks.

In her capacity as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals, she both laid a wreath during a Remembrance Day service and fired a starting pistol to signal the start of a Corps Week relay.

Arriving in Sydney on 8 November with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, the Princess Royal visited New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Corps, which she has headed since 1977. During the Sydney leg she laid a wreath at the Sydney War Cemetery and attended a parade at Victoria Barracks.

On the final day in Brisbane she donned a neutral-toned hat and jacket with a red poppy pinned at her collar, in keeping with the solemn observance.

She greeted members of the Australian Defence Force and veterans, reflecting on a century of service by the Corps and offering her gratitude to the families of those who served.

The sporting moment—which saw her raising the starting pistol before the relay began—brought a lighter, personal note to the military and commemorative elements of the visit.

She said of the Corps: “One hundred years of service, innovation and dedication is a remarkable milestone, and it is indeed a privilege, as your colonel-in-chief, to share in this occasion.”

With her Australian duties completed, the Princess Royal will travel on to Singapore for a two-day visit, where she will mark sixty years of diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and Singapore with engagements including visits to the Kranji War Memorial and meetings with senior state leaders.

The tour underscores the Princess Royal’s long-standing commitment to Australia and to the armed forces, and reinforces the enduring bonds between the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth nation as they honour shared military heritage.
