Thomas Frank Appointed Head Coach of Tottenham Hotspur

Danish manager takes over from Ange Postecoglou after successful tenure at Brentford.
Tottenham Hotspur has announced the appointment of Thomas Frank as their new head coach, marking a significant change in leadership as he replaces Australian Ange Postecoglou.

Frank, who hails from Denmark, has spent the last seven years at Brentford, where he served as head coach since 2018.

Postecoglou was dismissed after leading the club to its first trophy in 17 years with a victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final.

Tottenham confirmed that Frank's contract will extend until 2028.

In an official statement, Tottenham expressed confidence in Frank's capabilities, describing him as "one of the most progressive and innovative head coaches within the game".

The club highlighted his successful track record in player and squad development, anticipating his leadership as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Frank joined Brentford in December 2016 and oversaw the club's ascension to the Premier League, where they have been consistently competitive since their promotion in 2021. His tactical flexibility and ability to improve players, particularly those who find it challenging in other environments, have been key aspects of his coaching style.

At Tottenham, Frank will be tasked with managing a squad that, despite finishing below Brentford in the Premier League last season, contains higher-caliber players.

He will also be participating in the UEFA Champions League for the first time, with one of his inaugural matches set to be against reigning Champions League winners, Paris Saint-Germain, in the UEFA Super Cup.

While Frank has an extensive Premier League background, he has yet to win a trophy in his managerial career.

Previous managers at Tottenham, including Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho, struggled to bring significant success during their tenures.

Phil Giles, Brentford's director of football, acknowledged Frank's contributions to their club, stating that his "wisdom, coaching ability, and emotional intelligence have helped transform" Brentford.

Giles emphasized the strong connection Frank established with fans and his role in fostering the club’s culture and success.

As part of his transition, Frank is expected to bring several members of his coaching staff from Brentford, including assistant coach Justin Cochrane and set-piece specialist Andreas Georgson, who joins after a stint at Manchester United.
