As family pleads for information, police ramp up search efforts in Good Scrub National Park.
The search for missing Queensland teenager Pheobe Bishop, 17, has intensified, with police and emergency services conducting extensive land, water, and aerial searches in the bushland surrounding Good Scrub National Park.
Pheobe was last seen on May 15, when her housemates dropped her off at the Bundaberg Regional Airport.
She was reportedly set to fly to Western Australia to visit her boyfriend but never checked in or entered the terminal.
In a public appeal, Pheobe’s mother, Kylie
Johnson, described her daughter as a spirited individual, urging anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact police.
"Phee is sassy, feisty and has always been strong-willed," she stated in a heartfelt message, emphasizing that it is unlike Pheobe not to keep in touch with loved ones.
"We need her home,"
Johnson added, highlighting the family’s distress during this challenging period.
Police have focused their investigative efforts on the area around Mingo Road and Gayndah Road, appealing for motorists who may have dashcam or CCTV footage from May 15 to assist in the investigation.
Officers have specifically mentioned a grey Hyundai ix35, which has been seized and declared a crime scene as part of the ongoing enquiries.
The search operations include drone surveillance managed by Fire and Rescue teams, with police divers combing the waterways within the national park.
Recently, investigators reported a breakthrough with the discovery of an item of potential interest during the search.
However, authorities have not confirmed if this item is directly connected to Pheobe’s case.
Detective Acting Inspector Ryan Thompson remarked on the comprehensive nature of the ongoing investigation, indicating that while there are no specific persons of interest at this stage, all avenues of inquiry are being explored.
The homicide squad is also assisting in the search, although police maintain their hope that Pheobe may still be alive.
Since her disappearance, Pheobe's family has remained publicly open about their anguish, characterizing her as an essential part of their lives.
There has been no confirmed sighting of Pheobe or her belongings since May 15, and police continue to reach out to acquaintances, including her housemates, as part of their investigation.
The search for Pheobe Bishop continues with the support of the local community and law enforcement agencies.
