Trump International Hotel & Tower Gold Coast Set to Become Australia’s Tallest Building

Donald Trump’s organisation partners on a landmark 91-storey luxury skyscraper in Surfers Paradise poised to reshape the Gold Coast skyline
Plans for a landmark Trump International Hotel & Tower on Australia’s Gold Coast have been unveiled, with developers asserting the project will become the nation’s tallest building upon completion.

The deal to bring the Trump-branded development to Surfers Paradise was signed at former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida earlier this month, cementing what the Trump Organisation describes as its first official venture in Australia.

The tower, planned to rise approximately 340 metres over 91 storeys, would surpass the country’s existing tallest structures and mark a defining moment in Queensland’s urban evolution.

The proposed mixed-use skyscraper will integrate a six-star luxury hotel with around 285 rooms alongside 270 private residences, and incorporate extensive commercial, retail and dining precincts.

Developers also plan premium amenities including a private beach club and event spaces, while emphasising world-class design and service aligned with the Trump brand’s global portfolio.

Altus Property Group chief executive David Young noted the project is backed by private investment from Singapore, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates and the United States, with construction targeted ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.

The development sits on a long-vacant block at 3 Trickett Street in Surfers Paradise, previously earmarked for the cancelled Spirit tower project.

The new tower has been welcomed by some civic leaders as a boost to tourism, jobs and international profile, though formal development applications to the Gold Coast City Council are still pending.

Acting mayor Mark Hammel has said the council looks forward to reviewing the plans once lodged, noting the investment signals confidence in the city’s economic trajectory.
