Australian beef exporters are increasing grain-fed shipments internationally as shrinking U.S. production creates supply opportunities overseas.

Recent data shows Australia has raised its grain-fed export quotas by nearly fifteen percent this quarter compared with last year, aiming to capture increased demand from Middle Eastern and Asian markets.

The move comes as the U.S. — historically the world’s top beef supplier — reports its lowest cattle herd numbers in over two decades, constrained by high feed costs and shifting agricultural patterns.

As a result, importers in East Asia and the Gulf are turning to Australia to fill the shortfall.

Industry sources say the expanded Australian output is being spurred not only by global market dynamics but also by sustained domestic breeding gains and investment in feed-lot infrastructure.

Analysts suggest this could mark a turning point in the global beef trade, with Australia shifting from seasonal exporter to reliable year-round supplier of grain-fed beef.
