Israeli intelligence agency Mossad issued warnings to Australian authorities about threats to the Jewish community in the lead-up to a mass shooting at a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney’s Bondi Beach that left at least a dozen people dead and dozens more injured.

According to Israeli security sources, Mossad communicated multiple alerts to Canberra highlighting elevated risks to Jewish Australians and Jewish sites, reflecting mounting concern over antisemitic violence amid heightened international tensions.

Australian federal and state leaders have acknowledged that intelligence was shared but stated that New South Wales Police did not receive a specific warning of an imminent attack on the Bondi event.

Officials said that had such detailed intelligence been available, additional protective measures would have been implemented.

The shooting occurred during the “Chanukah by the Sea” gathering and was swiftly classified by authorities as a targeted antisemitic terrorist act.
