The Australian national carrier Qantas has announced plans to inaugurate the first scheduled nonstop flights between Australia and Las Vegas, establishing an unprecedented direct air link that will significantly shorten travel times for passengers on both sides of the Pacific.

The service will operate between Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport and Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, commencing on December 29, 2026, and continuing through March 12, 2027. Flights are slated to run three times weekly using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, with an estimated flight duration of approximately thirteen hours and fifty-five minutes.

This new route eliminates the need for passengers to connect through other U.S. cities such as Los Angeles or San Francisco, cutting up to five hours off current travel times.

The seasonal service reflects strong and growing demand for direct long-haul travel between Australia and North America, driven by leisure tourism, major events and business travel.

Las Vegas serves as a key destination for Australian visitors, and Australia ranks among the city’s most important international markets.
