Two Concertgoers Arrested for Climbing Stage Tower During Metallica’s Perth Show

The incident occurred at the band’s November 1 performance at Optus Stadium, drawing police intervention amid a crowd of approximately 60,000
Two men aged 20 and 23 were arrested at the November 1 concert of Metallica at Optus Stadium in Perth after scaling one of the central stage towers during the band’s live set.

The incident occurred amid the group’s M72 World Tour performance attended by around 60,000 fans.

According to the Western Australia Police, the two men—one from Carey Park and the other from Australind—were charged with trespass after climbing the tower inside the stadium bowl during the show.

They were removed from the venue and will face court proceedings for their actions.

The concert, characterised by Metallica’s elaborate in-the-round “Snake Pit” stage design and high-profile setlist, featured support acts including Evanescence and Suicidal Tendencies.

While no major injuries or major safety incidents were reported beyond the arrests, social-media commentary following the event highlighted concerns among attendees about other unsafe behaviour in the crowd.

Stadium management and event security teams have not publicly responded yet to the climbing incident, but the police statement reinforces the enforcement of venue safety rules and the legal ramifications of breaching restricted zones during live performances.

The ongoing tour continues to destinations in Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, with this episode likely to heighten vigilance for subsequent dates.
