Virgin Australia has launched a significant airfare promotion designed to stimulate travel demand across both domestic and international markets in 2026, offering more than one million discounted seats starting from just A$49 one-way.

The limited-time sale, which runs until 11:59 pm Australian Eastern Standard Time on January 19, 2026, features deeply reduced Economy fares on a wide range of routes and is aimed at encouraging both corporate and leisure travellers to lock in trips early in the year.

Under the sale, one-way Economy Lite fares on popular domestic routes include Sydney to Ballina (Byron Bay) from A$49, Sydney to the Gold Coast from A$65 and Brisbane to the Whitsunday Coast from A$75. Other discounted domestic connections such as Melbourne to Uluru have been offered from A$105, making travel between key Australian destinations significantly more accessible for travellers.

Business Class fares have also been reduced, beginning at A$219 one-way on some routes, and passengers can opt for Economy X seats with extra legroom from around A$17, broadening the appeal for business travellers and those seeking additional comfort.

International travellers are included in the promotion, with return Economy fares from Australian gateways to destinations such as Bali starting at about A$419, Vanuatu from around A$449 and Fiji from approximately A$605.

The airline is also working with its holiday package partner to offer combined flight and hotel deals to popular leisure destinations, with holiday packages to the Gold Coast and Bali available at competitive price points.

Virgin Australia’s chief marketing and customer operations officer said the sale reflects the airline’s commitment to delivering value and choice for Australians as they plan travel throughout 2026. By unlocking a suite of affordable fares across domestic and international routes, the airline aims to capture pent-up demand for both short-break getaways and longer journeys, strengthening its position in a competitive aviation market.
