Wendy’s Launches Immersive Flagship in Brisbane as Australian Growth Accelerates

US burger chain opens ‘Haus of Wendy’ in Brisbane CBD, marking a major step in its rollout of 200 stores across Australia.
The US fast-food chain Wendy’s has inaugurated its Australian flagship store in Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall, signalling a bold push into the local market.

The two-storey venue, dubbed the “Haus of Wendy,” opened on Wednesday and is already attracting early-morning queues, with some patrons arriving at five a.m. to be among the first.

The Brisbane opening follows Wendy’s initial Australia launch in January this year on the Gold Coast in Surfers Paradise, as part of the brand’s plan to establish 200 outlets nationwide over the next decade.

Located opposite King George Square and extending across two levels with seating for 130 diners, the Haus of Wendy features a vivid blue exterior and internally splits into two distinct design zones.

One red-accented “red room” celebrates the burger chain’s hallmark square patties and sass, while an adjoining blue side pays homage to the Frosty frozen dessert and includes a selfie zone and a Bow Wall art installation by Brisbane native Rachel Burke crafted from up-cycled materials.

Wendy’s Australia and New Zealand Chief Marketing Officer Corina Black said the venue represents the brand’s re-imagined presence down under: “We don’t do ordinary.

Wendy’s is about being fresh, bold, and a little unexpected,” she said.

The franchise operator, Flynn Restaurant Group Asia Pacific, describes the opening as “a statement of intent” in a market crowded with fast-food competitors.

On the menu, Wendy’s emphasises fresh beef and chicken (not frozen), continuing its global differentiator.

Signature items such as the Baconmator (known in the US as the Baconator), the spicy chicken tender burger, and the Frosty dessert are on offer.

Early customers have remarked favourably on value and taste, with lines forming already and the price point receiving positive comment.

The venue marks more than just a new outlet—it is designed as an experience destination.

Art murals of Brisbane’s landmarks, interactive social media feeds within the restaurant, and elevated design elements underscore Wendy’s ambition to embed itself into local culture while maintaining its global identity.

The launch arrives at a time when several US fast-food brands are accelerating expansion in Australia.

Wendy’s positioning in the Brisbane CBD places it in direct competition with long-established chains such as McDonald’s, KFC and Hungry Jack’s, yet the company believes its fresh approach and immersive store format give it an edge.

For Brisbane residents and tourists alike, the Haus of Wendy promises both novelty and familiarity.

One early visitor lined up from five-thirty in the morning and reported that the Baconmater-loaded fries (as they’re locally referred) were “just what I thought it’d be like” and the price was “better than expected.”

As Wendy’s begins its Australian journey with this flagship store, the next phases of rollout are expected to follow in 2026 and beyond.

The brand’s success in Queensland will likely serve as a blueprint for subsequent venues—each combining fresh ingredients, bold design and local cultural integration.

The Haus of Wendy has arrived, and with it Wendy’s intent to reshape the burger scene in Australia.
