Australia is set to mark the end of daylight saving time in early April, with clocks scheduled to move back by one hour in participating states and territories, bringing a shift to standard time across much of the country.

The change will take place in the early hours of Sunday, when clocks are turned back one hour, typically at three in the morning local daylight time, reverting to two in the morning standard time.

The system is designed to make better use of longer daylight hours during the warmer months by shifting an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening.

For example, the gap between eastern states and regions that do not observe daylight saving will widen once clocks are set back, requiring careful coordination for interstate activities.
