With just under seven years to go until the Olympic and Paralympic Games Brisbane 2032, the Organising Committee presented a comprehensive update on delivery momentum and commercial progress to members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at a session convened this week.

The briefing underscored significant advances in infrastructure planning, commercial partnerships and long-term legacy strategies across Queensland, reflecting sustained momentum towards delivering a world-class Games.

Brisbane 2032 President Andrew Liveris highlighted a series of critical milestones achieved since the previous IOC update, including the evolution of the Games Delivery Plan and growing engagement with global partners as part of a strategy to optimise commercial viability and legacy benefits for host communities.

Delegates were informed that the Organising Committee has signed its first commercial partner and is in active negotiations across multiple major revenue categories, a key pivot in boosting commercial foundations for the 2032 Games and offsetting future costs.

This focus on generating commercial revenue complements broader efforts to embed Australian businesses in the Games supply chain and create sustainable economic opportunities.

In a symbolic and strategic announcement at the session, Brisbane 2032 also unveiled “Australia House”, a dedicated showcase initiative to support and elevate the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games cycle.

Australia House will serve as a cultural and commercial hub for Australian sport, innovation and engagement in the run-up to LA28, strengthening ties between the two host cities and leveraging Australia’s global presence within the Olympic Movement.

The IOC Session provided a platform to reinforce delivery momentum on venues, transport and urban infrastructure in Queensland, aligned with the state’s comprehensive 2032 Delivery Plan.

This plan sets out a roadmap for new and upgraded sporting venues, major transport enhancements and regional legacy programmes designed to benefit communities well beyond the two weeks of competition.

Queensland Government agencies and delivery partners have accelerated procurement, with early works advancing in key precincts and major funding agreements secured through intergovernmental partnerships.

Organisers and IOC members also discussed the ongoing refinement of the Brisbane Games sport programme, with an initial programme set for formal determination at the next IOC Session in 2026. Throughout discussions, the Organising Committee emphasised its commitment to inclusivity, sustainability and lasting legacy, ensuring that Brisbane 2032 sets a benchmark for future Olympic and Paralympic Games.
