Global commodities giant Glencore is weighing the possibility of listing its shares on the Australian Securities Exchange after merger discussions with Rio Tinto collapsed earlier this year, according to reports circulating in financial markets.

The company is said to be evaluating whether an Australian listing could help strengthen its investor base and improve its valuation by increasing exposure to a market where large mining companies already command strong support from institutional investors.

Australia hosts some of the world’s largest mining groups, including Rio Tinto and BHP, making the country a major global hub for resource investment.
